Jason Hallonquist, Certified Financial Planner, CFP®

CEO & Managing Director

Inspired by a strong desire to build deep relationships with people rather than generate financial transactions, Jason left a position in commission-based financial services and joined AIS Planning in 2001. He completed his Certified Financial Planner, CFP® requirements in 2003, and in 2016, Jason and Cathy took the initiative to acquire full ownership of AIS Planning. Their desire to create a wholly independent financial planning and wealth management firm was driven by their strong belief in conflict free advice and service in the best interest of clients.

Jason is relentless in his quest to provide the best possible experience and results for our clients. He is our visionary, and most new AIS Planning initiatives are fueled by his innate ability to envision what could be. He also has an uncanny knack for coming up with unique analogies to simplify complex subjects.

Jason is married to Ann, a true “free spirit” and the life of any party. Together, they have raised three children (Ally, Cameron, Ryan) and enjoy spending time at their cabin or on adventures with neighbors and friends.

Cathy Juilfs, CFP®, AIFA®, CEBS

President & Managing Director

Cathy is an original in every sense of the word. She was the first team member to join Mike Sipe when he founded AIS Planning in 1999. She is one of only a few Accredited Investment Fiduciary Analysts (AIFA®) in Minnesota. She completed the requirements to become a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) in 2004 and a Certified Financial Planner, CFP® in 2005.

In addition to serving as a primary advisor for many household relationships, Cathy leads our retirement plan division, expanding our reach to companies and plan participants in central Minnesota and beyond. Her expertise and passion for implementing qualified plans that serve business owners and their teams is unmatched. It's rare to find someone who can recite tax code and build rapport with people in the way that Cathy can. She's a technical guru, a plan design ninja, and as transparent and honest as they come.

Inside the office, her strengths in operations, executing initiatives, and process development have helped to create the foundation for company growth. Her limitless energy and enthusiasm are the lifeblood of our office (although we do sometimes fantasize about locking her in her office until we’ve had our first cup of coffee).

When she’s not working hard, she’s playing hard—boating, hiking, four-wheeling, traveling and “getting dirty” in the outdoors. She and her husband Darren are parents to David (entrepreneur), Amber (chemist/Peace Corps volunteer), and Brittany (teacher/songwriter/actress).

Sarah Noble

Associate Advisor

Fueled by a passion for helping women and families create financial security, Sarah brings enthusiasm and vision to the team.  Her background in both operations and client-facing roles within the financial services industry further complements her efforts. Sarah chose to join AIS Planning in 2019 because of the firm's commitment to its clients, and "service above sales" mentality.  She is not afraid to take on new challenges and, unlike most people, she loves public speaking!

Serving as associate advisor in the retirement plan division of the company, Sarah operates as Cathy's right-hand in implementing qualified retirement plans, and is the primary advisor for our over 2,500 plan participants who seek our advice.

Sarah utilizes her creativity and outgoing personality to facilitate our Women’s Conversation Circle initiative and lead our financial wellness and planning efforts with our retirement plan participants. She's motivated by the AIS Planning motto "everyone deserves financial advice in their best interest". This mantra drives her to create content, videos, webinars and initiatives which help educate all clients and plan participants towards financial security.

During her rare moments of “free-time”, Sarah enjoys seeking knowledge from self-help books, cheering on her three kids, or planning the next travel adventure.  She is also apt to sacrifice potential free-time by participating in the Forum of Executive Women and serving on the board of the Sartell-St. Stephen Education Foundation.

Chris Duke, CFP® Candidate

Associate Advisor

After graduating from Virginia Tech's financial planning program, Chris passed his CFP® exam and immediately conducted a nationwide search for a firm that seemed like the best fit for him to learn and grow in financial planning, while obtaining the two-year experience requirement for his new designation.  Chris was an excellent fit for AIS Planning and in December 2019, he decided to leave Portsmouth, Virginia, to make St. Cloud, Minnesota, his new home and dedicate his talents toward serving our clients.

Chris thrives on using his analytical mind and relentless quest for knowledge to deliver a thoughtful approach to serving our team and clients every day.  Chris supports Cathy and Jason with household client relationships and facilitates the advancement of our wealth management disciplines through his work on our investment committee.

In his free time, Chris enjoys living out his experience as an Eagle Scout in the outdoors, dreaming of owning another cat someday, making gains at Planet Fitness, and/or testing and concocting new recipes in the kitchen.

Nathan Goebel, CFP®

Associate Advisor

Nathan came to AIS Planning in February, 2020, with diverse experience in the financial services industry including financial planning, tax accounting, insurance, and compliance. He sought an environment that would nurture his passion for constant learning and serving people.  Nathan was naturally and uniquely equipped to complement our team and quickly demonstrated his adaptability and skills as a leader, team player, and advisor.

In 2021, Nathan successfully achieved his Certified Financial Planner, CFP® designation, and although the coursework is complete, he is committed to personal and professional growth, and is often sought out as a first resource for complex client planning ideas and research projects.  Nathan is a true "people person" who strives to build deep, trusting relationships and support both the on-going and ever-changing needs of our clients in a joyful manner. He's the first to offer his help to colleagues, and can be counted on to create client solutions. Seeing clarity through the complexity is certainly his sweet spot.

Nathan is best known around the office for his upbeat and positive personality, and his love for holiday music (which he would play year round if we let him). Nathan is married to his high school sweetheart, Brittney.  They enjoy spending quality time at home with their dog Auggie, traveling, serving within their church, or working on the next house project.

Sydney Meyer

Associate Advisor

Sydney joined AIS Planning in February 2022 to pursue her passion for connecting with people and seeking ways to make a positive impact through our unique approach to financial planning.  Prior to AIS Planning, she spent seven years in financial services in client service and support roles. This experience inspired her not only to seek an advisor role for herself, but to carefully determine that she was looking for a company that approached clients with more than a "one size fits all" sales model. Sydney brings her natural energy and genuine charm to every interaction while demonstrating a sincere desire to learn, grow, and build lasting relationships.

As associate advisor for the household planning and wealth management division, Sydney supports Jason and Cathy during client meetings and seeks opportunities to help clients achieve their financial goals.

Sydney grew up on a family farm in west central Minnesota then graduated from St. Cloud State University with a degree in Communication Studies.  She now lives with her husband Karle on a hobby farm in Foley, where she has a love-hate relationship with their 20+ chickens and expanding line-up of animals.  She enjoys any opportunity to travel and explore the outdoors with friends and family.

Lisa joined AIS Planning in November 2021 to provide internal support for our compliance and human resource activities coming to us with more than 20 years of diverse experience at a financial institution, and several years of other executive support. Lisa acts as the "Swiss Army knife" for our company and is often called upon for additional support with perspective, proofreading, and projects. Her unique ability to interpret and organize assures that we are doing the right thing and our team has access to the support and resources they need. Her love of, and expertise with Microsoft Excel, has earned her the title of "spreadsheet queen" around the office and we are lucky to have someone with this level of skill.

When not sorting through compliance or HR related details, Lisa can be found reading a good book, engaged in a creative craft while dreaming of future travel, or spending time with her family.

Janet DeZurik

Finance & Office Administrator

Janet joined AIS Planning in 2017 after more than 40 years of experience in wealth management and private banking.  She is usually the first person to arrive in the office each day, and is the first voice to greet you when calling or coming in for a meeting. She's a natural at making connections and getting to know clients with her contagious and outgoing personality.

Janet orchestrates the daily flow of almost everything at AIS Planning as she is the “keeper of the calendar” for scheduling appointments and keeping the team organized.

This self-proclaimed "mom of the office", hasn't spent a day of her life living within the confines of a set of job duties. Janet does whatever is needed with a positive attitude and smile on her face and the goal of helping another person - colleague, client, friend or family.

Janet has been married to Chuck for over 40 years and together they have raised three boys, Aaron, Joshua and Joe, with a growing supply of beautiful grandchildren to keep them young.  Janet enjoys the outdoors and spends her free time on the lake, canoeing, fishing and floating on the water, usually with a glass of wine nearby.

Ann Hallonquist

Office Administrator

As her last name would suggest, Ann is married to Jason and finds great enjoyment in knowing and serving our clients, even if she's currently directing her energy outside of the office.

Ann was born to be a mom, but as their kids grew in independence, Ann committed time and energy toward helping AIS Planning succeed. We turn to Ann when there is more to do than time permits, and she dedicates herself to helping the team and serving our clients when the need arises.

Ann and Jason are opposites in almost every way, which makes them the perfect couple. While Jason maintains a busy schedule and leadership role at the office, Ann is very much the boss at home, tirelessly orchestrating the household schedule, seeking opportunities to travel and experience something new, and devoting as much time as possible toward caring for their aging parents.
